In recent weeks, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, OECD, and the International Monetary Fund, IMF, have both issued gloomy forecasts for economic growth in the United States, Japan and Europe. The two organisations expect low growth in 2009 as a result of the financial crisis.

In the wake of these reports, DI has updated its latest prognosis in which Chief Economist Klaus Rasmussen predicted an economic growth of 0.5% and unemployment around 50,000. This outlook has now been readjusted in the light of the OECD and IMF estimates for the world’s larger economies.

-Once the recession hits all significant export markets to the extent we are talking about here, then it will also naturally hit Denmark. But the length of the crisis in Denmark will depend on how tight a financial policy and the level of labour market reforms that politicians are prepared to adopt, says Rasmussen.

He stresses that even with 100,000 unemployed in Denmark will still be among the three countries in Europe with the lowest unemployment. And the need for foreign workers is still very much in need.

Performance declines considerably when people feel prolonged fear and sense that there is no true job security for them, regardless of how well they perform.”

These four steps outline some simple methods for keeping employees motivated and assuaging their fears during uncertainty:

1. Set the tone and lower the anxiety level in the office by being candid about the challenges — and opportunities — ahead.

2. Enlist the team to fix what’s broken so you can motivate employees and find out how and where the business needs to change.

3. Get back to the work that matters and make sure your team is tuned in to growth opportunities.

4. Acknowledge and reward deserving employees and recognize achievement, even if resources are scarce.

Dahl & Kjærgaard has decided to post job vacancies for English speaking professionals with JobsinCopenhagen.

JobsinCopenhagen is the first website of its kind in Denmark listing job opportunities with English as the main working language. Contrary to what the name might suggest, they cover jobs from Aalborg to Malmo. However, Copenhagen stays the heart of the Danish expat community.

Founded in spring 2006, JobsinCopenhagen has within half a year managed to offer some of the largest collection of English speaking jobs in Denmark.

Jesper Dahl Hede

Jesper was co-founder of the business of Dahl & Kjærgaard in 1999 and today he is the CEO.

He works with leadership, business development and recruitment and search. His primary focus is development of the business and the services in general.

Jesper is certified in People Test Systems personal analysis (PTP and PTL), MBTI and Masters analytical tools, and he is also educated Train the Trainer in TQM and MBO.

He is originally educated from an American University, specialized in Business Finance and Psychology. He started his career with the Bank og Ireland in the USA and worked for eight years with management and HR. Since 1996 Jesper has worked in Denmark as a Management Consultant with assignments of Search and Selection in national and international consultant businesses.
